BANGKOK- AYUTTHAYA – LOPBURI – PHITSANULOK
Depart from Bangkok and head north to Ayuthaya, the former capital of Thailand from 1350-1767. Ayuthaya now stands as ruins of what once was a magnificent city and the centre of the Kingdom. From here, visit Wat Mongkol Borpith with the gigantic bronze statue and the three ancient pagodas at Wat Phra Srisanpetch - the largest temple in Ayuthaya in its time, and was used as a royal palace for several Ayuthaya kings. Continue to Lopburi for more sightseeing (on the bus) around the monkey temple. Lunch at local restaurant en-route to Phitsanulok. After lunch, proceed up north to Sappraiwan Elephant Resort located between Phitsanulok and Khao Kor the ‘Switzerland’ of Thailand. Here you will spend a night in the jungle in a beautiful hillside chalet to enjoy the natural sights and sounds of the resort's array of resident wildlife.

DAY 2 PHITSANULOK – SUKHOTHAI Enjoy breakfast at hotel and the rest of the morning is free at leisure until noon. (Note: Elephant activity and Wat Pha Sorn Kaew is not included in the package, surcharge applied) Enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscape of the resort or opt for an optional tour to interact with Elephants. Your experience with elephants in Thailand will teach you about the Asian Elephant’s strength, diet, and behavior. You’ll have the rare opportunity to connect with elephants by allowing them to express themselves and behave as they were meant to. During, your visit to Sappraiwan Elephant Resort & Sanctuary we will take you on a tranquil, serene journey through the jungle.
Alternatively take an optional tour to a unique temple adorned with more than 5 million of colorful mosaic tiles and pottery items. Hidden away high up in the hills of north central Thailand, Wat Pha Sorn Kaew is a Dharma retreat for monks and Buddhist followers. Feel the serenity of the atmosphere as you visit the sanctuary with its preaching hall, pagoda, and beautiful gardens. Check out by mid-day then continue to drive to Sukothai. We will take a tram to visit Sukhothai Historical Park, take a walk in the well-kept and attractive park grounds to see temples, monuments with intricate sculptures and stuccowork. West of the old city, we will visit Wat Sri Chum with its impressive 11-meter seated Buddha.

DAY 3 SUKHOTHAI – CHIANG RAI Drive north via Phayao for Chiang Rai. On the way, take a stop at Kwan Phayao Lake, the biggest fresh water lake in Northern Thailand, picturesque with a mountain range in its backdrop. Upon arriving in Chiang Rai, visit Wat Rong Khun better known as the ‘White Temple’, a contemporary, unconventional, privately-owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple. Originating from the great devotion of renowned Thai artist, Chalermchai Kosipipat, the temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha with the intention to construct an attainable paradise on earth representing righteousness and the encouragement of good karma. Afterwards, continue driving to reach your hotel in time for check in.

CHIANG RAI – CHIANG MAI Depart from Chiang Rai, drive north to the Golden Triangle where the borders of Laos, Burma and Thailand meet at the Mekong River (Optional: boat trip on the Mekong River - cost is not included in the package price). Then continue drive to Mae Sai, the northernmost Thai town near Myanmar’s border. You can watch Thai and Burmese people walking across the bridge separating the two countries. Browse along the local market with lots of Burmese handicrafts. Afterwards, drive to Chiang Mai and check in at the overnight hotel.
In the evening, enjoy a superb Kantoke Dinner while being entertained by a selection of traditional Thai cultural and folk performances. Kantoke is the customary Northern Thai style of eating with the food being served in large platters at low tables while you sit on mats on the floor

CHIANG MAI After breakfast, visit Chiang Mai’s most impressive temple, the Wat Doi Suthep sitting atop of a hill - an iconic city landmark. On a clear day, the panoramic views of the city from the temple grounds are magnificent. Then continue by pick-up truck to a Meo hilltribe. The Meo hilltribes originated from the South of China and usually live on mountain peaks or plateau. Afterwards, visit “Thai Farmer’s House”. Agriculture remains Thailand’s largest source of income and here the visitor can discover the basic elements-rice, local herbs, fruits, fishing-all thriving in a chemical-free environment. Sit down and relax over a fresh fruit or herb juice, together with a plate of newly prepared mixed fruits. You may also wish to experience the signature dish of this part of the world, “Khao Soi” This is a Northern dish, rice noodle in a coconut curry soup with chicken or beef. Then, board on a boat and cruise through the Ping River, admiring the scenery along the banks of the river. The afternoon is free at leisure.
